It was bound to happen. Sods law, of course! We’ve spent all summer posting about the warm dry weather and risk of desiccation, even as recently as two weeks ago (A final reminder: hot weather, clay soils and building foundations don’t always mix!). Then some of our team get invited to play in a corporate golf day and the course becomes unplayable due to torrential rain!
We did manage to play 9 holes of the RammSanderson golf day at the wonderful Horsley Lodge golf Course in Derbyshire, but eventually the greens flooded and everyone was called back into the clubhouse for an early dinner. The rain did subside, but by that stage nobody felt the urge to put wet clothing back on and go out again!
As always with these events it is as much about the networking opportunity with existing and new contacts, so a huge thank you to Oliver Ramm and the team at RammSanderson for the invite.
Plus, there was a bonus for Liam Atkin-Press and Richard Upton who were paired with Michael Askew and Andrew Nicklin from Knights PLC. It turns out they had the best score for the 9 holes played. And the prize for winning? A bottle of wine and chance to come back and play the course again – hopefully in better weather conditions!
Here are the four GRM representatives before they went out to play and the downpour started! Well done to Russell Hurcombe, Richard Upton, Geoff Beckett, and Liam Atkin-Press.
