Shining a Spotlight on Staff: Paige Colling

Paige has been with GRM for just over 6 years and has progressed through to her current role as a senior engineering geologist. She is currently working on a variety of Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Appraisals , Soakaway Testing and Budget Foundation Schedules across Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. Paige enjoys the challenge of looking into the ground conditions to determine suitable foundation solutions and drawing geological maps to develop conceptual site models that visually represent the subsurface.

Outside of work, Paige is a keen swimmer and recently qualified as swimming coach (after several years going through the various coaching levels). She volunteers at Burton Amateur Swimming Club, helping younger swimmers qualify at county and regional level. Paige also helps organise the annual main fundraiser for the swimming club, the historic Bridge to Bridge 1500m which is taking place on Sunday 5th October this year. As the name implies, the original race took place in the river Trent between the two famous Burton bridges, starting at the Ferry Bridge and ending 1.5km downstream at the Trent Bridge. But due to pollution issues it now takes place in the local pool. GRM have for the fourth year running helped sponsor the event, including providing branded swimming hats and pens!

When not at work or swimming, Paige enjoys spending time back in Filey, Yorkshire where she grew up. She also loves to travel, with recent trips including the Lake District, Norway and New Zealand – all of which have very interesting geology (and geomorphology in the case of the Hooker Glacier in New Zealand).
