Report Raises Concerns over Unapproved Structural Designs

A recent article in New Civil Engineer highlighted concerns raised by an experienced chartered engineer that the structural designs of many recent buildings in the UK may be non-compliant.

The observations were shared anonymously via the Collaborative Report for Safer Structures UK safety information provider. The reasons cited for concern included the failure of clients to employ a qualified engineer and incomplete designs.

At GRM we are proud of our reputation for providing a wide range of structural engineering services and solutions to landowners and developers across the UK. This is reflected in the fact that over 80% of our structural engineering work comes from repeat business or recommendations from existing clients.

Each project is given the same focus and attention to detail, with the team of Structural Engineers and CAD experts designing the most cost-effective solutions using the very latest design codes. The team is led by Dr Mohamed Diriye, a Chartered Structural Engineer with 25 years of experience in the UK and internationally.

Our Structural Team are supported by in-house Geotechnical Engineers, Geologists, and Site Inspectors. Their understanding of ground conditions reduces the risk for clients and means that we can react quickly to unforeseen construction issues. This is coupled with our end-to-end service which includes land appraisal and ground investigation. Larger projects can therefore be managed under one roof, saving time, cost and confusion.
