While all eyes are currently on the performance of the British team at the Winter Olympics in Italy, it was a more local event here in the midlands that has focused the attention of ‘Team GRM’. And while the curling performances on the Italian ice may have just fallen short this week, our highly skilled ten pin bowlers proved more successful on the boarded floor of the Hollywood Bowl in Derby.
The annual GRM bowling championships is always the first social event of the year, and as usual brings out the very best and sometimes the ‘not-so’ best in competitors! This year we had a healthy turn-out of staff, family members and ex-employees, all anxious to perform on the big stage and take home the winning gold. Old rivalries were renewed too, with previous winners determined to regain the trophy and accept the accolades that accompany such a prestigious award.
In the end it was George Salloway who managed to see-off the competition and collect the trophy with a winning score of 254. (Note: Previous employee Andy Brown gets an honourable mention as he had a higher score, but rules are rules, and only active GRM employees are eligible to claim the trophy. Sorry Andy!).
And as tradition has it at GRM, congratulations also go to Sally-ann Hodges who finished with the ‘not-so-highest’ score of 108! Well done to everyone on another fantastic family friendly GRM social event!
