At GRM we are proud of our on-going staff training program, which includes all levels from new members of the team to the two Directors. We use a combination of in-house experts who are always keen to share their knowledge and experiences, and external providers where specialist training is required.
Last week we invited Neil Salvidge (Neil Salvidge Training, Development and Assessment Ltd) to provide some additional training and insights for the verification of ground gas protection systems (GRM offer several inspection services, including foundations, clean capping and gas protection). Neil is active in developing and maintaining best practice standards within the construction industry and his teaching background certainly helped, with his engaging delivery and thought-provoking questions.
Neil’s approach used both theory and practical (literally hands-on), with many taking up the chance to have a go at hand welding gas membranes (including Richard Upton, one of our Directors, as seen in the headline image) and to then do destructive tests on weld samples. We soon realised it’s not as straightforward as it looks to maintain temperature and pressure for a consistent weld! Installation is definitely not an easy skill (how well can you wrap Christmas presents), and Neil’s demonstrations gave us a better appreciation of the pitfalls and complexities to be aware of during inspection visits.
Thanks again Neil for helping us to hone our verification skills!
If you have any development or construction projects, then please get in touch to find out how we can help save both time and costs. Please use your main point of contact at GRM or for new enquiries email richard.upton@grm-uk.com or call 01283 551249.
