Cable Percussive Boreholes as part of Housing Development Ground Investigations

GRM have been on-site in Cheshire undertaking ground investigation works for a new housing development.

The works have involved window sampling to allow for chemical analysis, as well as the installation of gas and water monitoring wells. Cable Percussive boreholes are being used to assess the geotechnical properties of the deeper soils down to 15m (attached image).

The potential for contamination, based on historical site uses, and the presence of shallow peat and soft glacial deposits means that this could be a challenging site for our client both environmentally and geotechnically.

However, undertaking a detailed ground investigation will enable our client to make the most cost effective design decisions so that this site can be brought into use.

If you have any development or construction projects, then please get in touch to find out how we can help save both time and costs. Please use your main point of contact at GRM or for new enquiries email richard.upton@grm-uk.com or call 01283 551249.
