Creating a great working environment and career development program is a key part of our GRM ethos. That extends throughout the organisation but is especially important for new starters who are experiencing GRM for the first time!
We are therefore delighted to announce the arrival of Ben Wells (on the left in headline pic) and Jobe Walbank to the GRM Team. Both have joined as Assistant Geologists, and we are confident they will quickly make a significant contribution to our wide and diverse range of land development projects.
We asked them for a brief overview of their backgrounds:
Ben: “I’m an outdoorsy and active geology graduate from Leicestershire. I began my path towards becoming a geologist after a very enthusiastic teacher at school offered it as an A-level course. This was a great introduction and paved the way for me to undertake a geology degree at university. The fieldwork was especially satisfying, allowing me to do projects all around the country and further afield including Norway, Sicily and the Pyrenees. I recently graduated and have been given this fantastic opportunity to work at GRM and develop my skills in a professional setting.”
Jobe: “Growing up in the Peak District, I developed a lifelong passion for the outdoors and the natural world, nurtured through countless hikes, runs and camping trips during my childhood. This enthusiasm is what initially drew me to geology, as I wanted to understand the processes that had shaped the landscape around me. Fortunately, my school offered an A-level course in geology, and before long I found myself beginning a geology degree at Durham University. Over three thoroughly enjoyable years, my interest in the subject deepened. The highlight of my degree being my mapping dissertation in the North Pennines, where I studied the rocks of the Cross Fell Inlier and Carboniferous sediments. This experience confirmed my desire to pursue a career in a geological field, which is just starting here at GRM!”
Welcome Ben and Jobe!
