We are always looking for ways to support local initiatives, and they don’t come more ‘local’ than Burton Rugby Club given that we can see their new ground from our office windows!
Burton Rugby Club boasts Staffordshire and Derbyshire’s highest ranked senior men’s team playing in the Midlands Premier division. The club is over 150 years old and had been located at their old Peel Croft site in the centre of Burton since 1910.
Last year they moved to Battlestead Croft in Tatenhill, and GRM helped with the ground investigation and drainage work for both the pitches and new clubhouse. This expansive new site includes a number of rugby and football pitches, creating a community hub that is already widely used by teams and leagues.
Some of the GRM team have children involved in the youth system at the rugby club, and others regularly attend the senior team home games. GRM were delighted to be involved in the development project, and will continue to support the club as it embarks on this exciting new chapter at Battlestead Croft.
