Our annual GRM World Bowling Championships took place last week at the Hollywood Bowl in Derby, and once again it was a hotly contested affair. Old rivalries were renewed and new ones formed. Several of the newer members of staff came with high expectations, but were quickly put in their place by a couple of the ‘old-timers’ who used all their guile, experience, and dubious tactics to throw the young-guns off track.
In the end the Championship was won by one of these old-timers, none other than our social secretary Russell Hurcombe, who scored a very respectable 246 points (over the two rounds). There were several others who pushed Russell to the very end, including a previous employee Lewis Parnell who was obviously ineligible to claim any form of prize.
And a final and honourable mention to Toby who finished slightly lower… well last.. with just 87 points (Toby is on the left in the picture below, in case the glum face didn’t give it away!).
