One of the initiatives we are starting this Autumn is the creation of video content showcasing some of the services we supply for landowners and developers.
The content will be used to create vlogs for both internal and external use. The full-length videos will be used for staff training and shared with clients, while shortened versions will be added to our website and youtube channel.
We recorded the first footage last week, featuring rotary drilling on a site in NW England which is to be developed with low rise housing, gardens and parking.
The site contains made ground from previous use as a school (which has now been demolished) and there are still large areas of surface concrete visible around the site.
However, the main interest and reason for the rotary drilling is the proximity of the site to historic mine workings. A mining report from the Mining Remediation Authority confirms that the site itself is not underlain by recorded mine workings and there are no probable unrecorded workings either. However, there is the potential for lateral gas migration from nearby workings to the east of the site.
We have already undertaken trial pitting and window sampling at the site, and the current phase of rotary drilling is to install boreholes within the shallow sandstone bedrock to monitor and assess the gas risk.
Below are several screen grabs from the video footage, featuring Tom Perkins (one of our Assistant Geologists) and two of the team from Dynamic Sampling who supplied and operated the rotary drilling rig.
We will edit and compile the vlog over the next few weeks, then upload and promote. We have other services in the pipeline to record over the next few months including soakaway testing, window sampling, groundwater monitoring, and mine grouting.
If you have any development or construction projects, then please get in touch to find out how we can help save both time and costs. Please use your main point of contact at GRM or for new enquiries email richard.upton@grm-uk.com or call 01283 551249.
